A view of the Bauhaus from in front of 3rd Plane's Studio.
Third Plane played every Wednesday night at the Bauhaus.  I liked to call them a beyond-jazz band, because they were capable of anything and everything, as well as their jazz which was new and fresh and incredibly visual.  I used to take my sketch book down to the Bauhaus on Third Plane nights, so I could let the ink from my pen flow and bend with the music.

In those days, I worked part time at a bank downtown, which was just down the street from the Bauhaus.  I saw the name appear above the bar one day and was instantly intrigued.  So I made it a point to stop over one evening after work.  The first band I saw at the Bauhaus was Third Plane.  I sat rivited to my seat, completely astonished and entranced by their music.  Somehow, later, I managed to get myself invited to the post show party at the founding bartender's art studio next door.  I met the band and fell in love with each one of them!  This was the beginning of a fabulous friendship and artistic adventure.  They let me do my first Wanda show at the Bauhaus inbetween sets of their music.  Later on, they asked me to manage the group.  Chiefly, this meant I made lots of cool posters and got to ride along to the gigs in the van with the band.

Third Plane was theatrical, and like Sockeye, nothing was sacred to them.  Especially moving was theri annual Christmas Pagaent, for which they transformed into a punk persona to enact out the mysteries of the birth of Xtianity.

Other band personas included The Fluff Chicks, and the always stirring performances of glam rockers, Joey Glitz and the Glamrods, recently emmigrated from behind the Iron Curtain.  I have a scrap of Joey's shirt from the final Glamrod show at the Bauhaus.  The 90s arrived and Third Plane left for the Bay Area.  The Bauhaus went under soon after that.
